what a week

What a week I have had. I have been very busy sewing, babysitting, going to the gym, teaching, working, and having a couple of nights sewing with the girls. I also managed to finish the bag that I am going to teach in SA but I will hold off on photos until I have shown Trish. Now to my next project, I have a couple on my mind, 2 christmas ones and an applique wall quilt, as well as another christmas stitchery! All in the fullness of time ( still looking for more!). in the meantime i am going to try and start Blackbird designs Friendship Garden quilt with my friend Ramona, we are going to meet this week to sort things out. I know I am going to enjoy doing this one.

I am now off to the movies to see "Becoming Jane" with some friends.

be back soon

Show & tell

Well, here are some quilts that have been or are almost finished. These girls came to my BOM class "the magic of Christmas" last year. We had a lovely afternoon at a cafe in Upwey to show our quilts.this first photo shows Georgias cushion which she made with a little help from her mum Sandra and Aunt Sally. Georgia was 9 when she did this and I was so impressed with her stitching!Georgias_cushion_2

this is Merediths (her first quilt ever she should be sooo proud of herself)

and this is Sandras. We had so much fun in the class and the girls have a great Christmas quilt to hang every year (although Sally wants to hang hers all year!)Sandras_quilt

Bye for now

Gail

ps Sue has almost finished hers and promises to have it finished by this Christmas!

Backpack Pattern

Heart_of_the_home_3

Here is another new pattern which will be available next week. It is a large backpack with a drawstring top and a magnetic closure in the flap. (see I dont only do Christmas although I did buy Christmas fabric today for a new design!!)

I sat most of the day in my sewing room, working on the bag for Loxton, playing around with the fabrics and some trims, until school pickup time and then the rest of the day flew by! I am meeting some girls from my Christmas BOM class last year, for coffee and show & tell tomorrow afternoon, I will try to remember my camera to show you what they look like. It was a great class, we had such fun and have been trying to get together this year to catch up and show the quilts.

Have a great weekend

More Christmas

You may have guessed with this post that I love Christmas, especially quilts, santas, angels and reindeer. So here is a photo of the Santa that I will be teaching as part of the Christmas Club here. he will be available in 2 sizes and would make a lovely Kris Kringle or teacher present (yeah I know… you MAKE the teacher a present!). Now that my 2 older boys are at high school I no longer "do" teacher presents for their teachers but my youngest is in Grade 4 and has the nicest teacher (she was his teacher in Grade 2 as well) so I will make her something as a big thankyou.

I promise I will try to do something else other than Christmas, I need to design a bag for an upcoming workshop in South Australia, so I will be getting onto that very soon.

Seasons

I have finally finished my new BOM called "Seasons". It is an 8 part series and is available from Monday.

Seasons_block_8 Many thanks to Melinda for the lovely quilting and to all the girls who have been very encouraging. You will be able to see the actual quilt here for the next few months, and I will be teaching it here in Term 3.

I hope you like it!!!!

Have fun

oh dear!!

Oh dear!! what’s a girl to do when these are in the house?  These are my all time favourite chocolates (with Cadbury fruit and nut coming in a close second)P1010075 I am lucky that my family knows that these are the chocolates to buy and so this is what I received at Easter. How good is that?

Have a good weekend

PS I will have a photo of my new BOM tomorrow,(about 4 pm) it is finished and I just need to take a photo of the complete quilt.

Collecting

One of the things I love to do is collect! I am a terrible hoarder and love to keep anything (including empty boxes!! another story). I also love op shops and we have some good ones around here. Books are always where I head first as I love to read, but anything old that puts itself in my path I am likely to buy without any thought as to what I am going to do with it!!

Butler I also love it when I am given anything old and this book my mum gave me actually belonged to my great grandmother. It is a "new edition" published in 1906 "Mrs Beeton’s Book of Household Management". the spine may be falling apart but I love to read it anyway. It has glorious colour pictures and unusual chapters like this one on butlers!!Tea_table_2

What do you like to collect?

Birthday cloth

Here is a project that I am teaching  here in a couple of weeks. Karen asked me to design a birthday cloth for those special days. It is easy piecing and stitching with a few prairie points and ric rac.Birthday_cloth_2

I am hoping to get started on a new design today but first I have to help my hubby paint ( I hate painting!!) but the job must be done!

Have a lovely Easter break, keep stitching!!

off to the movies

I went to the movies last night with my niece, thought we might have a little time to see a chick flick together. Razzle Dazzle was the chosen movie and I must admit I wasnt too sure about it, especially after the first 5 mins, however it began to get better and by the end I was almost cheering (poor Melissa would have been sooo embarrased). so I quite enjoyed myself and I think Melissa did too!!!

cheers Gail

A New Christmas Pattern

Well, I finally got this finished last night and was able to take a photo this morning. I actually started this back in January but put it aside to work on my new BOM (which hopefully will be done this week). I know Christmas is still a while away (okay 8 MONTHS away) but you can never start too early as it seems to creep up quickly and before you know it,, Its here!! So if you feel in the festive mood, it will be available this week. Believe_in_the_magic1    enjoy the school holidays
