More AQM

As I said in my last post, I met some lovely people at the AQM. Colleen from Buttontree Quilts in Cairns dropped by and said hello (photo won’t co-operate), Sarah from Quilt Fabric delights came over from South Australia (next time she will come for the weekend) and Kerry from Cottage on the Hill came from Nundle and I was able to meet her! It was lovely to put faces to names. Of course Natalie and I couldn’t help ourselves and were like 2 school girls in a candy shop!! We are really looking forward to going to Tassie with Rosie next Feb…..ahhh I better get working on my project!!

Thanks to everyone who left a comment to win my new pattern. I have packed them up today and they are winging their way to the winners!!P1020169 Here I am in front of my samples….now back to work!!

AQM…what fun!!

What a great time we all had at the Australian Quilt Market in Melbourne over the weekend. I met lots of lovely ladies and talked and laughed my way through the weekend. It was lovely to meet Lynette and her hubby and spend the weekend getting to know them. Also to catch up with Leanne May (who has a new blog so take a look) from Candlelight Creations.

P1020178 I also met up with Lyn from Moore Patchwork, we have been keeping an eye on each other through the blogs and it was great to meet her in person. I also met Di Mill who was wearing the most gorgeous shoes (yes…red!!!you may need to scroll down a bit to see them on Leannes blog). She was also very lovely.

P1020179 Here is Melly who is still recovering from Houston (now she can relax a little!!).

It was so nice to meet Helen too, she has such lovely designs and has perfected the art of colouring on quilts. Well enough for today, I will be back later with more pictures.

But of course I need to draw a winner……so………congrats to Sue (nov 17, 1.36pm), Helen Nash and Caitlin O’Connor. send me an email with your address and I will pop the patterns in the post for you!!

Well I am off to do some housework (and maybe a little lunch?).

Bye for now

Win!

here we are back at Friday again, another week gone, where does the time disappear to? I have finally finished "good tidings" in time for the trade show this weekend in Melbourne. So what do you think, now that you can see it all together?

Good_tidings I do like a stitchery in the border of quilts and I just had to have one here!

So……leave a comment over the weekend and I will draw 3 names to win a copy of the pattern…..that would be a lovely early Christmas present. You have until Tues morn (about 10am) and I will draw the winners. I will have recovered from the show by then I hope!! I am looking forward to meeting some lovely ladies especially those who have blogs…..so come up and say hi, I will be at the Creative Abundance stand with my good friends Leanne and Rosie and Melly.

Have a good weekend!!

the middle block

last block in my new christmas quilt which I have called "good tidings". this stitchery is in the centre:

P1020134 so all I need to do is quilt and bind, ready for the trade show on the weekend.

My exciting news is that I am going to Launceston in Tasmania to teach a workshop at the Country Quilter. Sally sent me an email and asked if I would like to come over and of course I said "YES". So my next project will be for Sally which I had better get a start on!  Be back with more details soon!

hearts for Christmas

So here is a picture of another stitchery, I love to draw hearts and for Christmas it seems so apt!

P1020135 sorry its a bit blurry…..not enough sleep maybe!

Saturday night I enjoyed myself at the Foothills Christmas gathering. lots of lovely company, food and fun (I was totally exhausted by Sunday LOL). there were a few ladies there who have made some of my quilts.

P1020157 this is Michelle’s version of my design "all things Christmas", isn’t gorgeous?

and here is Meri with her version of "garden path"

P1020163 done in one of my favourite ranges "seneca falls" (okay so you all know that blue is my favourite colour LOL)

I also have some exciting news about a retreat next year that I will be teaching at……but I will leave that for the next post in a day or two. Needless to say I was VERY excited when this lady asked me to do a workshop interstate…..with a couple of my friends….and another designer who I haven’t met yet……looking forward to meeting her…..I will be back with that news tomorrow!!!

Have a lovely evening!!

and a partridge in a pear tree!

okay so maybe 2! I have been wanting to put my new little birds into a christmas quilt so it makes sense that they would be partridges, here is another stitchery block:

P1020132

on another note: today has been very exciting as Natalie came for a visit! so of course we headed out to a few shops and our local cafe where we managed to bump into………Leanne and Rosie!!!! (well I sort of rang her and she was already on the way)talk about LOL, my eyes are still sore from crying (laughing so much that I was literally crying!) I am sure that Natalie must think that we are nuts….but a great time was had before Natalie had to head off towards Warburton and a lovely day tomorrow  (girls stuff again! how much fun is that?)

oh well back to work before I head off tonight to the Foothills Christmas breakup (more fun LOL)

Cheers

PS happy birthday Sue!!!!!!!

Another Christmas block

well, as promised I am back with another photo of a stitchery for my new Christmas quilt. A christmas quilt needs a christmas tree and so here it isP1020133 as you can see, the fabric is gorgeous!! I have signed up (at the last minute) to take part in the Santas sercet swap organised bychookyblue so I guess I had better get a move on to make something for my swap partner…..oh dear…..her blog gives me a little idea on what she likes but…..I hope that what I make will be okay! Nothing like a deadline to make you productive (leanne is back so I haven’t really been productive this week LOL) it has been lovely to hear all about her trip (maybe next time she will have room in her suitcase for me!!!)

have a good weekend

monday’s news

well here I am back again with a photo of the start of my new christmas design…not sure about a name yet, still thinking about it……but here is a glimpse of one of the blocks..

P1020131 I have used the Moda range "Roman Holiday" it is so lovely and when I saw it I knew I had to use it ( I still have "Yuletide Blessings" for another quilt!) I really love all the Christmas fabrics that are available and Christmas is such fun….only about 7 weeks to go!!

I hope to have this finished by the end of the week so for those of you going to "Foothills Christmas" on Saturday night I will have it with me and all will be revealed! (Nothing like a bit of pressure on myself..LOL).

We have a public holiday tomorrow for the Melbourne Cup. For those of you overseas it is the biggest horse race in Australia….and we get a day off! We usually have a BBQ with friends and we are hoping tomorrow will be a nice day…we have had lots and lots of rain in the last couple of days which has been really lovely, we certainly need it.

I will be back soon with more christmas blocks.

Cheers

thursdays post

It seems like I keep thinking that I should apologise all the time for being very slack with posts on this blog…but time really does run away from me and I do try….well at least I think about posting! LOL…

firstly there are a few vacancies in the tree skirt class (see previous post for a picture) so if you would like to join us at Foothills give them a call or email and Sandra or Lesley will give you the details.

Foothills are also having their Christmas break up on Sat 10th Nov in Tecoma so if you are interested in coming along ( I will be there ) let them know, it is a fun evening, lots of show and tell and lovely food….so what are you waiting for?

Here are some photos of my new projects, they will be available after the trade show (18 & 19 November), I am still working on a couple of Christmas things so there will be more to see next week.
