here is what I have been up to on the weekend, this is one of 16 blocks that I have done. I am now playing around with the design to see what I like the best, thinking of adding some trims around the border
now off to lunch with the girls from Foothills and off to sewing tonight (if we are lucky we will be able to see some of Leannes photos from her trip)

What a lovely day I have had at the Pakenham Quilt In!! A whole day of sewing with some nice ladies (and Dianne!). We paid $5 to sit & sew, lunch of a yummy soup and lots of yummy cakes for afternoon tea. I also won a door prize! Lots of laughs and a little bit of sewing.

there were over 150 ladies there and some lovely quilts on display as well. Thanks to Margaret and all the girls at Pakenham for organizing a great day. (Fiona where were you?)

I have had a lovely afternoon at foothills fabric & threads taking part in the "Biggest Morning Tea" to raise funds for cancer research. (yes it was in the afternoon as the morning session was full!) we had lovely cakes and slices and made a little scissor case, all the materials kindly donated by Sandra & Lesley.
I have added another blog to my list so if you have time take a look at Lyn’s blog, and from there of course you can go to another and another and another (oh where does the time go when you are reading all these blogs?)

Thought I would share with you this needle keeper that belongs to my mum (I borrowed it about 4 years ago and it has lived with me since then!) My memory tells me that she got it from one of us kids, bought at a mothers day stall when we were at primary school. I also have a vague memory that she might have made it for the stall herself!! 
I am so glad that she kept it all these years. Is this where I get my " I can’t throw that out" problem from? You never know when you might need something and I do like to keep things for sentimental reasons.
Just before Christmas my hubby made me throw out all the empty boxes that I had somehow collected, just to ask me the next day if I had an empty box he could use!! He certainly copped it from me for about a week.
Anyway, I hope you all have an enjoyable week, and I hope it rains (just not on Wed afternoon when we have a paper round!!!)

it’s raining, it’s raining! For the second morning in a row it has been raining and it is soooo lovely. It has been so dry here for so long. I know sunny days are nice but rain is what we need. Here is a photo looking over my backyard (and the neighbours). So does this mean that I can stay inside and sew all day? never mind the housework it will still be here tomorrow!!!
I never thought that through a blog you can enter a whole new world out there! I find myself going from one to another and lose all track of time. There are some great reads out in blog land and I do have a list of favourites (see down the side). this one, Buttonberry is new for me as they are going to stock my patterns in the UK. Needless to say I was very excited!! (think I need to treat myself to a chocolate?) Check it out I am sure you will love it. Also I love to read Julianns Blog and see what she gets up to.
I am going to try and get some sewing done tonight when I babysit for my sister, I usually can sew from 7.30 until midnight (as long as I dont fall asleep), the only problem is I have to be up early to take my 2 older boys to school at 8am (the joys of motherhood and yes I know that its not THAT early). At least I can fit more into my day.

I guess there might be a few posts out there with this title as it has been such a lovely day. First my youngest son came in a 9am (so nice of him to let me sleep in!) with a handmade card and gifts from the mothers day stall at school. This is the verse inside the card…

My response was to laugh and laugh ( I have 3 boys and it seemed sooo appropriate!!)
After a brekkie of bacon and eggs (cooked by hubby) I made cupcakes to take on our family picnic
with chocolate icing of course. ( I also received my favourite chocolates Ferrero Rocher….. mmm yum!!)
We had a lovely day, too much food, lots of laughs and glorious sunshine. we are hopeful that it will rain again soon as it has been very dry.
To all the Mothers out there I hope you had a lovely day too!!

there is nothing more satisfying than a good book (ok maybe good chocolate…. and nice fabric…). I am an avid reader and am constantly buying books. I cant help myself that every op shop I go into has a book that I just have to buy. My poor hubby is surrounded by books and fabric (I hide the chocolate!!!) and I will not part with any of them, although I am learning slowly that there is just not enough room on the bookshelf..
I have just finished reading this book "Standing in the Rainbow" by Fannie Flagg and enjoyed it so much that towards the end I read very slowly as I didnt want it to end!!
Today I have purchased a copy of "Cloudstreet" by Tim Winton. The lady in the shop said it was a great book so I am itching to start, but of course there are other things that must come first. (that also includes my current read "Cranberry Queen")
So off I go to try and get some things done so I can read and sew later this afternoon.

hi everyone,
Thought I would show a tiny bit of the bag that I am teaching in SA in July,
a bit of applique and a bit of stitching. I am looking forward to the trip as it will involve lots of chocolate, lots of photos and a weekend of fun with lots of lovely ladies (not to mention the gorgeous fabric found at Almond Grove Crafts!!)
As I mentioned I went to see Becoming Jane on Sunday, I loved it and thoroughly enjoyed myself (thanks Sue & Karen for letting me tag along!)
I also went shopping yesterday with Ramona, Leanne & Melinda (fabric shopping of couse) and managed to find some lovely creams to use in the background of the Friendships Garden Quilt. What a pity the patchwork shop was next to our favourite cafe, (a hot chocolate and the most divine french toast ) and we just had to go in.
what a nice way to spend the morning
