a good book

there is nothing more satisfying than a good book (ok maybe good chocolate…. and nice fabric…). I am an avid reader and am constantly buying books. I cant help myself that every op shop I go into has a book that I just have to buy. My poor hubby is surrounded by books and fabric (I hide the chocolate!!!) and I will not part with any of them, although I am learning slowly that there is just not enough room on the bookshelf..

I have just finished reading this book "Standing in the Rainbow" by Fannie Flagg and enjoyed it so much that towards the end I read very slowly as I didnt want it to end!!Book_1

Today I have purchased a copy of "Cloudstreet" by Tim Winton. The lady in the shop said it was a great book so I am itching to start, but of course there are other things that must come first. (that also includes my current read "Cranberry Queen")

So off I go to try and get some things done so I can read and sew later this afternoon.

Do you love a good book?

Happy reading

Gail xx

  1. You’ll love Cloudstreet, a very aussie novel. I’m just starting an Erica James novel. Have a good week. Cheers

  2. I am not much of a book reader these days. But I do enjoy reading your blog and all the other ones out there. I also had to smile when I saw Helens comment, not what she wrote but how late it was as I was on the blog at the same time, catching up on your news.Just like a good novel, I imagined helen sitting at the computer typing away and becoming caught up in all this blog chat. Goodnight Gail, Goodnight Helen, Goodnight Fellow bloggers or readers of blogs,I am not off to bed yet Have to read the Latest Homespun. It came two days ago and I still havent read it!!

  3. Gail, I love reading, I just love books, especially my children’s collections, Enid Blyton, (I loved the Adventure series) Famous Five and Secret Seven, Mary Grant Bruce and L.M. Montgomery and so many others, I do read them occasionally. If I can get them with a dust-jacket so much the better. I used to get so many from the op-shops but sadly they are few and far between now. I dream of visiting the places in the books and what they would have been like so many years ago. I bring so many home from the library, and they nearly all go back unread. Him outdoors says I’m very selfish, I’m depriving others of reading them, but they’ll get them eventually. See you soon, Lesley

  4. I recently read How to Kill Your Husband and Other Handy Hints. I kept it on my bedside table. Ray is very concerned about the title. Now l am back reading the Elm Creek Quilt Series. Almost finished the second last book – Circle of Quilters.
