A glorious day in Melbourne

Well, the sun is shining, kids are at school, Jarrod has his Yr 12 English exam today, the first of 7, he will finish on Nov 10 and then what???

A great day to be outdoors, hopefully I can do some stitching this afternoon.

I have finished all the applique on "Berries and Bluebirds" and will now sew it all together…..here is a bit more of block 1

I am still working out how I am going to quilt it, I have 3 weeks to get it finished for the trade show in Melbourne. I will also start writing the patterns today, maybe, the sun is calling and I may need to sit outside for a while!

think it is time to stop and smell the roses, so to speak!!

Just also wanted to let you know that I am teaching a class at Foothills on Friday 19th Nov, if you can come along. You will need to do some stitching before you come though, so we can make the little book in class.

Here is a little photo for you

That's all for now….back to work

  1. Gail, your quilt is looking gorgeous. I looove the shape of your birds…almost reaching out for a little kiss…errrr, peck. 🙂 I’m pretty envious of your needleturn skills. The sun is gorgeous today, hope you get a moment to enjoy it. Take care.

  2. You go go GO girlfriend!! I LOVE it to bits. You have excelled yourself and should be proud. The mix of repro fabrics look awesome with your design. Keep em’ comin’
    Nat x 😎

  3. Very Nice!!!!! Looking forward to seeing the big reveal … yep Im sure it will be on the ever increasing todo list as well!!!! Cheers Sue

  4. Gail, I can see that “Berries and Bluebirds” is going to be one of those quilts that will get the little voice in my head saying “Nancy…get busy and learn to applique.” I love needleturn and I hope to try it as soon as my sewing room is set up…maybe 10 days more and I will finally have my own space. I can’t wait to see the entire quilt but I already know it will take my breath away!!! Oh how I wish I lived where I could take some of your classes. I love the little Bird Block stitchery on the class project you are going to be making, just adorable. Thanks for all the peeks at Berries and Bluebirds! *you know how to make a quilter crazy with anticipation, LOL* Big Hugs…

  5. By the way Gail, I have looked for the stitchery pattern for the cover of the Bird Block Keeper and can’t locate it. Can you point me in the right direction or is it a part of a larger project? Hugs…

  6. I love how your Berries and Bluebirds look and am looking forward to the final reveal.
The little needlebook is gorgeous. Oh to be able to come to one of your classes.
I hope the pattern will be available for sale one of these days.
