Holiday sewing.

The last few weeks I have been finishing some quilts for me. I had several scrappy quilt tops that had been sitting around for a while so I decided to finish them.

here is one of them that I absolutely love!!!

I also wanted to finish my double wedding ring……all hand pieced and hand quilted..only the binding sewn on the machine!!!! Very pleased with this too!!!

It’s a busy time of the year

I have had lots of things on this time of the year and I have been busy doing "mum" stuff. I have also been a little bit obsessed with my "Dear Jane", now that I have some non work sewing time. I have been aiming for one block a day until next Tuesday, which is when I have a "Dear Jane" class, the last one for the year. As I haven't been able to do many of the blocks during the year I thought a last minute catch up will help me get to a reasonable tally of blocks….which is now at 73!!!

I have also been working with some of the gorgeous wool felt I bought from Foothills Fabric and threads, yes it's a Christmas design…won't be ready for this year but will be for next!!! so I kind of have a head start!!

P1060283

I have managed to decorate a little for Christmas too….only 2 1/2 weeks to go. Liam doesn't finish school until the 18th Dec so I have a little time left to do some serious shopping.

Back soon with some more photos and maybe a little freebie (if i can get my act together!!!)

Have a good week

Rouenneries Quilt

This gorgeous fabric is the inspiration for a new quilt I have named "provence". With a mix of applique,  stitching and piecing it really didn't take me too long to make! I have written the pattern and drawn the designs, taken a photo….so off to the printers tomorrow and hopefully by the end of the week it will be in your local patchwork shop. (well okay, probably only in Australia but it will be ready!) Size is 60" x 60".

This pattern is also ready. I have used Cottage Garden threads which are just gorgeous. In this pattern are 6 pincushions, 3 pin books and 3 pin keeps.

A quilt for Beryl

While I was at AQM, I caught up with Linda from Gum Valley Patchwork. She told me all about a quilt for Beryl for her 90th birthday. It just so happens it was one of my designs from a few years ago. Of course the quilt needed to be bigger so Linda did just that and made it bigger!

She has done a great job and I hope Beryl loves it!!! You can go over to Linda's blog  to see a close up photo.

PS the quilt is called "garden path"

Cottage Garden Threads

I have been using these gorgeous threads in one of my new patterns and I thought you would like to see them!

P1060254

They are hand dyed here in Australia by Pam (pam@cottagegardenthreads.com.au) and come in about 30 different colour ways. They all have gorgeous names like "sweet pea", "raisin", "damask rose" and "ash".

P1060243 I have used "larkspur" and "ash" on this pincushion

P1060245 and "damask rose" and "ash" on this one.

They are available at Foothills Fabrics and threads, Candleberry Country and I think Siw from Quiltegaarden will also be stocking them (look in the left or right sidebars for links)

I have also made thisP1060242 which is made from the range "maid of honor" by Bonnie Sullivan.

I will have both of these at AQM on the weekend.
