The Splendid Sampler…have you been sewing along?

We are now halfway through the Splendid Sampler and aren't we getting some lovely blocks!

I decided to make mine in all different blue fabrics…cause you know blue is my fave colour..

Here I have a few finished ones…I started out great but work has been a little busy…I catch up when I can!

It's also okay to be bit behind….and you don't have to make every block…I know some of you don't embroider and that my block was a bit challenging, but that's okay..we do what we can!

It's been fun to get to know the designers too….I am thrilled that I have a few new followers!

So, here is the website…just in case…The Splendid Sampler

most of all, continue to have fun!! There are lots more wonderful blocks coming up!

Cheers

Keep Stitching!

  1. I think that is why I stopped. I should have given my permission to skip and do less. Even 100 overwhelmed me.

  2. So beautiful blocks in blue! I am behind too, but it is great to make the blocks whenever there is some time, or even just those I really want to make, lol!

  3. I have done 40, delayed due to injury but I will catch up. Thank you for your gifts and generosity.

  4. Love you designs. Will be looking for you in my quilt shop because of the splendid sampler project. One of my favs!

  5. I made my Splendid in all colors but really like your blue. Thanks for being a designer!

  6. Love your blue blocks. I haven’t started yet, but love the idea of one color choice. Thanks for sharing.

  7. I haven’t started yet, but love seeing all the colors people are using. Turns out blues are my favorite, now I can start using my blues.

  8. Gail, Thanks for sharing. Love your completed blocks. I was daunted by the embroidery blocks but was determined to at least try and I now find them to be my favorites! I have only completed 1-25, but I am looking forward to your block when I get there!!! Thanks!

  9. I love your color choices. I decided when I started this that I would only use fabrics from my stash. So mine is very scrappy.
    I’ve done 49.

  10. This has been a fun journey. I am skipping the blocks that require handwork as the arthritis in my hands won’t let me make them.

  11. Thanks to blocks like yours, im embroidering now and teaching a little 12 year old girl to learn with me! I love your block.

  12. Hi Gail, Sure I am behind, not much, and when summer busy season is over I will catch up or not. 🙂 I am not a woman that liked embroidery. Love the look, not the doing. Anyway, I committed to doing all the blocks in 2 colorways so I will have 2 quilts. One for me and one for granddaughter. I admit that the stitching is awkward and my patience runs thin, but I am doing it. And bless my soul, found out I like it. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!

  13. I was hooked on the Splendid journey from the beginning-
Love all of the variety of techniques and am completely hooked on the embroidery. Thanks so much for the lovely design, such fun!

  14. I love your choice of the blues. Very pretty. I finished 19 blocks. Taking it slow and steady in between other projects.

  15. I’m a little behind,but I will do all the 100. But I skip the extras…so fare that is.
I love your block. Not all finish yet…but I work on it.
    Love your blue blocks.
    🙂

  16. Your SS block is beautiful. With hand problems I am working on a way to stitch it by machine because definitely I want it included in my quilt.

  17. I am enjoying the Splendid Sampler blocks. like doing all the different techniques. Thank you.

  18. Love the blue blocks. I love blue but it is one color that is lacking in my stash. I know how to embroider but it is not my passion. If it cannot be done by sewing machine, I probably will not be doing it. I love my sewing machine way too much and really don’t want them to feel slighted. 🙂

  19. Hi Gail, Love your color palette, blue is my favorite color too! Thank you for your time and talent for the Splendid Sampler

  20. Have downloaded but still need to print your pattern when I go to my daughter’s. Will get it done eventually, can’t wait! Loving embroidery again after 40+ years.

  21. I have completed 35 blocks and during this journey have learnt that I just love embroidery. My husband tells me I am calmer when I am doing hand stitching…lol

  22. I got behind twice but caught back up. I only skipped one block but did some of the extras.

  23. I’m having so much fun! It is great making all the diverse blocks and also a creative outlet for me to “make it my own” at times. Thanks for the great big Splenderette party and giving us the outlet to make thousands of wonderful new friends!!

  24. I have loved all the differnt techniques. I love to embroider – sometimes it is hard to find the time to sit and enjoy the process. Thank you for your contributions!

  25. I am not an embroiderer but love your block and am almost finished with it. I am also loving anything blue and am pondering an all-blue quilt.

  26. I love your blocks and colours. I started with blues beiges and teals but a couple of the blocks didn’t turn out very well so I put it all on hold. I love seeing what everyone else has done. There are so many lovely variations. Well done!

  27. Love your blue blocks – what a great way to tie it all together. Keep the inspiration coming! I’ve followed since the beginning and am really loving the journey.

  28. I love the fact that there have been so many designers in this quilt along, many names contribute to it… When I make my quilt, my own block will be included, and then I will be a designer too! I love your blue blocks, however if I did a color, mine would be green! Ha ha! Thank you so much for contributing to this sampler! I appreciate all of you!

  29. I love your choice of fabric…I decided to use a fat quarter bundle that I had in my cupboard…i purchased it as a whim (OH wait that’s the name of one of the blocks) anyway it does have a lot of green fabric (not my favourite!) in it and I am challenged by it but starting to like a touch of green here and there.

  30. I’ve admired your designs long before this sampler, so I was thrilled to see you as one of the block designers. Thanks for sharing your talents with all of us.

  31. Lovely color and fabric selection for your blocks. I have not started but am following along.

  32. I have finished 45 of the 50 blocks. I like embroidery too. Sometimes it s nice to just sit and do handwork.

  33. I love your work and enjoyed doing your block , thanks for being part of this fun sambler.

  34. I haven’t done any of the paper pieced blocks yet. I just haven’t been able to muster the ambition yet. But I will give it a try eventually. I am still working on the other blocks I’ve enjoyed doing.

  35. Oh how I love your block! This quilt is going to have so many memories in it- Thanks for all you do!

  36. Thanks for your design contribution to our “Splendid” journey! While your block was a challenge, it was good to try, and learn something new!! Love the blues in your fabric choices, and your ‘It’s OK to say No! Policy” Keep stitching on….

  37. I haven’t started any of the blocks yet but have been saving them for a later date. I like the idea of picking 1 color and working from that. I find it very overwhelming when I have to pick a lot of colors.

  38. I’ve only finished about 30 but hope to do some catching up this week. Love your blue colours – my favourite colour too. Embroidery was a challenge for me so I did the simplified version of most of it. I did enjoy it and enjoying it more with each project. Love seeing all the variations these creative quilters are coming up with.

  39. I really enjoyed your block, as I can take it with me and work on it whenever I want. I am new to embroidery so it was a little challenging but I am so happy with the results.

  40. I enjoy looking through all the designer’s work and getting inspiration from them. Your work is quite lovely, thank you for sharing!
