friday again!

Well it’s Friday again and I have been very slack with my posts lately, I have no excuse, apart from thinking of things to post about! Yesterday I had a very busy day with a class in the morning and a class in the evening, this is what the girls are making

P1020116

they have a month to put the top together and then we will have a class to finish it off. it really is quite simple to make and lots of fun too!

Melly and Rosie headed of to Quilt Market in Houston yesterday. We will miss them but know that they will have the BEST time, I look forward to hearing all about their big quilting adventure in a couple of weeks.

so, its the weekend and maybe just maybe I will get something finished!!

Hope your weekend is a good one

Cheers

Sneak peak..

I have been busy stitching this week to get some new patterns ready for the upcoming AQM (trade show) in Melbourne. Here is a glimpse of one of the new stitcheries:

P1020096 I have also made them into pockets on a bag so that there are a couple of options.

here is a work in progress:

P1020091 and here is a matching one

P1020095 there are another two to go with them and then I will make them up into a wall hanging ( I do reserve the right to change my mind though!!!) I will probably use the lovely blue fabric that is in the picture (madeira range) as you know how much I love blue! then there is the Christmas pattern also but that will have to be for another post.

The third coincidence that I mentioned that occured in Queensland is: we were camped in sunny QLD and the couple next to us were living in their caravan waiting while their new house was being built. The lady saw that I was stitching and mentioned that her daughter works in a patchwork shop in Melbourne. It just so happened that I was in that shop a week before we left and her daughter served me! (not quite the same as knowing someone but pretty close). it certainly is a small world.

Today Leanne left for her big adventure to Norway, so if you are one of the lucky ones to meet her, look after her for us and have a great time. We will miss her but look forward to hearing all about it when she gets home!! (not to mention the thousands of pictures..LOL).

Have a good weekend in your part of the world

Cheers

I have been tagged by Connie from Simply Quilted so with the risk of boring you all here is my list and the rules

1. Link the person who has tagged you.

2. Tell seven true things about yourself.

3. Tag seven new people.

4. Leave a message with the person you have tagged so they know about it.

Seven truths about me:

1. I always wear a watch….I just like to know the time all of the time!!

2. I hate being late…hence I always wear a watch!!!

3. Before I started quilting I also did counted cross stitch and other crafts like card making.

4. I have a sweet tooth and love any kind of dessert (except those with coffee in them)

5. I like to go for a walk everyday…….it sometimes just doesnt happen!!

6. I hardly ever wear make up and when I do people always comment…arrrgh.

7. I love the smell of freshly cut grass….this doesnt mean I mow the lawn….I just love the smell!!

I won’t be tagging anyone but feel free to play along!!!

I have managed to do a little bit of stitching this week but only in between my son knocking his front teeth at a birthday party, a masquarade party, babysitting for my sister, visiting my other sister and her newborn prem baby, dentist visits and haircuts for my kids not to mention a piano concert tonight for son no.3……..and of course catching up with friends……life is one big adventure!!!!! (dinner? what dinner….not tonight I think unless you cook yourself..)

will post again soon

Cheers

New Fabric

of course on my recent travels I hunted out a few patchwork shops! here is some of the fabric I bought:

Fabric2 isn’t it just soo yummy!!! I am not sure what I will make yet but I HAD to buy these……..

I also managed to slip in a little stitching…..

P1020087

on the left is a Christmas stitchery by Bronwyn Hayes, in the middle is one of the projects by Natalie Bird that I started at Highfields (the stitchers dream day out at the Quilters Angel) and on the right is a blue version of the stitchery by Leanne that we did at GlenHarrow ( I have also finished a red version) now all I need to do is make them into……something..?

I also treated myself to a new sewing machine yesterday as mine seized up on Tuesday night. I have been wanting one for a while now and as poor old Janome cracked it after about 20 years, I went for the Bernina 440QE, wow what a machine, I am looking forward to the weekend when I can have a play!!

more of my holiday

As i mentioned previously I managed to get myself booked into the Stitchers Dream Day Out in Highfields. It was a bit chilly in the morning but turned out to be a glorious day of sunshine, here is a photo of Lynettes project

P1010892 so clever of her, I love it and hopefully will have some time soon to make it (am I dreaming?)

I also dropped in to my girlfriends at Port Macquarie for a couple of nights. Julie and I went through school together and even though we dont see each other a lot it is always fun to catch up. The second coincidence is that Julies husband Steve grew up in Walcha (a small town in NSW), and the lady who owns the patchwork shop there (Leanne) has met Julie. Julie mentioned that her friend (me) does patchwork and Leanne knew of me..it is such a small world. I was hoping to meet Leanne in Highfields but she was there on the Sat and I was there on the Sun (it took all morning for me to realise that after looking for her and not finding her).

this is the lighthouse at Port Macquarie, such a beautiful place….

P1020012 so back to the normal life for me, kids back at school tomorrow, hubby out to work and me? well I hope to be sewing!!LOL

bye for now

Where do I begin…?

At the beginning I suppose! yes I am back from a 3 week holiday in the sunshine…the Gold Coast in Queensland mostly, with a side trip to Highfields and a week in NSW on the way home.

As mentioned before I stopped in at Honeysuckle Cottage to see Kim, what a beautiful part of our country she lives in, see her blog for a photo.

we then spent a couple of days at the theme parks, and yes I did manage to get conned into going on some of those scary rides (as did Liam…..tears all round for him!)

I also managed to book myself in for the Stitchers Dream day out at The Quilters Angel in Highfields. What a lovely day I had! I was able to meet Lynette and also catch up with Leanne May, Natalie Bird and Rosie, lovely weather, lovely food, great projects and great new friends.

P1010903 Here I am with Judy and Sharon who made me feel very welcome..Hi girls.. and thanks for a great day, see you in Melbourne one day!

Then it was back to the Gold Coast for a few more visits to movieworld and dreamworld.

It certainly is a small world as there were 3 occasions where I met people who I knew (well sort of anyway). When we went to Wet & Wild we ran into the people we camp next to in January when we go to Warburton!! We only ever see them on holidays LOL!!! I will save the other 2 for another day.

P1010818 I just had to indulge in this lovely cream donut at Seaworld….no wonder I put on a tiny bit of weight….(well maybe not so tiny but it was worth it!) I did manage also to find some yummy chocolate in Highfields…sigh…I just cant help it I am sooo addicted.

I am so ready for a rest this weekend then back to school on Monday for the kids and I think I might need a rest to recover from the holiday!

Cheers
