Workshops for 2011

I am excited this year to be able to teach at a few workshops here in Australia. I am busy preparing designs for all the lovely ladies that are able to come along and join in the fun!

My first workshop will be at Quilt Fabric Delights in Adelaide on the weekend of July 2 and 3. I have already started a stitchery and am thinking about an applique project too!!

I will also have a very hectic end to the year starting in September where I will head down to Gum Valley Patchwork where the lovely Linda is having her first workshop. I will be teaching with Lenora, who has the most gorgeous things!

October I have Keegan's 18th and also my sister's 40th. These parties are followed by a workshop at Anam Cara on the 22nd October, this will be my first time up there and I am looking forward to meeting lots of new ladies.

The weekend after on the 29 and 30 October I will be heading over to Port Pirie again with Natalie Ross to teach at Country Hart. We had a ball last time and I am sure it will be a lot of fun again!

So if you can come to any of these workshops I would love to meet you, we always have a lot of fun and laughs as well as working on a few new projects.

Cheers

Enjoy your week!

March already!

I can't believe it is March already! I thought I had better let you know about a few classes I have coming up in March.

First I have a small butterfly dilly bag which I am teaching up at Mrs Martin's Quilt Shop on the evening of March 16th

You can either complete the stitchery before class and then in class finish the bag or make the bag with the ric rac on it, contact Karen for the cost and time.

I also will be teaching my new BOM Berries and Bluebirds at Foothills starting on Monday the 28th March. This will run for 8 months on the 4th monday of each month (except April as I will be away, but it is a chance to catch up!)

6a00d8341c6fa553ef0148c8288452970c-500wi
This is a different colur way to the original and a kit is available at Foothills. Contact the shop for details on 9754 6166.

If you can't make it but would like to take a class with me, contact your local shop and let them know you are interested, maybe I can come to you!

I am just finalising some workshops for this year also and I will put them up here as soon as I can, so you now where to find me!

On another note, Jarrod started uni on Monday, he is going to Monash Uni and is studying maths/computer science! I love having computer geeks for sons, sure does save me a lot of time!

Back to the sewing room, whatever you are doing I hope you can fit in a couple of stitches!

Time flies!

we all know the saying……where has the week gone! I spent a lovely morning (well it did end up stretching into the afternoon) last Thursday with Vikki and Simone chatting and doing some needleturn applique, mostly chatting, not much applique!!

I also went up to Belgrave to put Liam on Puffing Billy with my mum, dad, sister, nephew and relatives from the UK, we met them at Emerald Lake Park and then enjoyed lunch at the Emerald Bakery….divine!! Liam has never been on the train and we live 10 mins away! I suppose being the youngest he missed out, but that was soon fixed when mum said they were going.

Also wanted to let you know that my local shop Foothills is having a sale this week, so if you can, enjoy a drive up to the hills and check them out!

Sarah is having a sale too, Quilt Fabric Delights is online so over you go!!

Laila
I will probably be in trouble for putting this on my blog but I needed a photo and this is a good one! It also makes me smile as Laila and I have become great friends after meeting in Norway at Quiltegaarden in 2009.

Laila has made a gorgeous version of winter blooms you can see it on her blog.

that's all for now!

winners

Thank you to everyone who left a comment on the previous post, but there can only be two winners! So congratulations to Margaret from "A Sampler of Stitches" and Tracee, so please email me with your address and I will pop them in the post!

I have been stitching away when I can, and as usual am working on about four things at the moment.

The first peek I will show you is for Country Hart's Project of the month, as I am first I had better get a wriggle on! It's almost finished just one more little thing to stitch.

Country hart project

This second peek is a project using some yummy wool from Hatched and Patched, on a background of linen. I have also added some stitchery as you can see, almost finished that one too!

Wool

Next up is writing patterns in the next couple of days and also spending a little time with some lovely ladies, showing them how to needleturn applique. I will take some photos and show you later on in the week!

have a great week!

Simple Times

Well, it is officially released now, my new pattern "simple times", what do you think?

Simple times
So for a celebration how about a give away? If you would like to win a pattern for "simple times", please leave a comment on this post and I will draw 2 winners next week.

I also want to show you Linda's version of Berries and Bluebirds

6a00e55205266188330147e23fb533970b-800wi
Available at Gum Valley Patchwork , gorgeous fabrics!!!

Had a little flood in my new office after the heaviest rain from Cyclone Yasi (so they say).  I hate to think how it was up in Far North Queensland. All good though, just a little damage, nothing compared to Queensland, so I am very lucky.

Hope you are all getting some time to stitch now that the kids are back at school! I have lots of things on the go, so many ideas!! It's nice to sit down at the end of the day and relax with some stitching!

have a good week and don't forget to leave a comment to win!

Summer’s Bouquet

I had a lovely call from Lesley in New Zealand today. She is running my Summer's Bouquet quilt as a BOM over 4 months. Her shop is Grandmother's Garden in Hamilton.

Here is a link to the quilt and all the details you will need! Very clever of her to do this!!

Here is a photo of my original quilt, but you can see how gorgeous Lesley's version is!

Summers bouquet

It is very hot here today, a great day to sit inside and stitch! maybe you would also like to start my new BOM Berries & Bluebirds, take a look at Sarah's fresh and pretty version over at QFD

and Patchwork Online are also ready to go with Berries & Bluebirds!

Sandra at Foothills is working out kits in my softer version, the second one I made, which I love too!!

so if you are ready for a new project this year, maybe these will tempt you?

Stay cool everyone (or if you are about to sit out a blizzard, stay warm)

already gone

Wow, January has almost gone and with it our summer holidays. The kids go back to school next Friday (yes, friday, what the?) except Jarrod who starts at Monash University this year, (not until the end of Feb) studying Maths/Computer Science. He is so excited he wants to start now! I am so proud of him for getting into the course he chose, I have a son in Uni!!!

I have settled into my new little office at home as I am now distributing my patterns and books again. I am looking forward to a busy year ahead (once I get out of holiday mode!) and promise to keep you all updated on what is happening in my part of the world!

The first thing to do is finish writing a few new patterns, so hopefully on Monday I can show them to you.

The second thing is to start my project for Robyn at Country Hart, she is doing a Project of the Month with a theme of "My Sewing Room", so if you would like to be a part of the fun, pop on over for more information.

I am also going over to South Australia for the weekend of July 2 and 3 to be a part of Inspired Stitches run by Sarah. So if you would like to come, pop on over to Sarah and sign up!!!

When I am allowed, I will also let you know where else I will be this year, just need to finalise a couple of things!!

OK, I will show you a photo of one of the new patterns, made with "summertime friends: fabric by Lynette Anderson

I have called it "simple times", a little bit of applique and a little bit of stitching!

Simple times
so I better get it printed!!!

Have a great weekend,

Cheers

a long break

Happy New Year everyone!! Well, that was a longer than intended blog break!  I have been here but really have just enjoyed some time off before I start another hectic year.  We have had some lovely weather up until Christmas and leading into the New Year but for the last 8 days or so it has rained pretty much non stop! The good thing about the rain is that we wont have any fires, the bad thing about the rain is it's not good for camping! I am thankful though that we don't have the floods that have devastated Queensland and New South Wales, but Victoria is now getting the rain and some parts are floodedMy thoughts go out to all those who have lost loved ones and their homes. To help rebuild you can donate here  http://www.qld.gov.au/floods/donate.html.

Here is a little look at my newest design, still have to write the pattern but it will be out soon. I have used Lynette's fabric "summertime friends" which is just gorgeous!

Simple times small

I hope to be back soon with some more news and maybe some more finished projects!!

Enjoy yourself wherever you are and whatever you are doing! and I hope the rain stops soon..

Cheers

Gail

PS, if you go here Facebook

you can bid to win a full set of Berries and Bluebirds, all the money will be donated to the QLD govt flood relief fund

Merry Christmas to all!

On the eve of a very special day, I would like to wish all my readers, followers, friends, those I have met and those who I have yet to meet, a very Merry Christmas. May the Joy and Peace of the season be with you and your loved ones!
