USA trip 2016

ok, so it's been a while!

I have been away in the US for most of Sept with a great bunch of girls!

Here are a few photos of what we got up to!

We visited some amazing quilt shops…Pieceful Gatherings, Temecula Quilt Shop, Primitive Gatherings as well as the San Diego Quilt Show.

Then we had a great class with Cheri Payne at The Fat Quarters Quilt Shop In Vista CA

we then moved onto Madison WI and went to a fabulous quilt show there too, as well as more gorgeous shops and a visit to Lapacek's Orchard to visit Kim from Persimmon Dreams (and sample the most delicious honey crisp apples and apple cider donuts!)

our last stop was in Minneapolis to attend The Buttermilk Basin Woolstock Event

It's also okay to be bit behind….and you don't have to make every block…I know some of you don't embroider and that my block was a bit challenging, but that's okay..we do what we can!

It's been fun to get to know the designers too….I am thrilled that I have a few new followers!

So, here is the website…just in case…The Splendid Sampler

most of all, continue to have fun!! There are lots more wonderful blocks coming up!

The Splendid Sampler – Stitch in the Garden

Finally it's my day for The Splendid Sampler!!

Go here to download the block!

Splendid_button_4(1)

It's so exciting to see all the blocks coming together!

There is a little bit of applique on my block, along with the embroidery…

Blockblue

I am doing my blocks in blue…so here is my version for my quilt!

The applique is little but is a nice addition to the block.

Here is how I did the large spool with the two fabrics.

sew the "thread" fabric in between the "spool" fabrics. make a template with freezer paper and iron onto the block. Line up the seams with the spool edges..

position and applique into place…don't forget to clip the inside curves…

and if you really don't want to do applique, you can just stitch the spools!!

Block

Or even applique them in wool or your chosen method!

I hope you enjoy making my block!
