A great day at Warracknabeal

What a wonderful day Melly, Natalie and I had at Warracknabeal on Saturday.

We drove up on Friday and set up our samples then it was off to Del's house for a delicious dinner. Talk about fantastic food, what a feast, topped off with apple crumble and a yummy, yummy lemon cake!

All the ladies had a great time, some even had their eye on the Grand Final replay, I must say the Collingwood supporters were very quiet, even thought their team won, too busy stitching I guess!!

At the end of a long day!!!

The Quilter's Harvest have more photo's on their blog, I almost forgot to take photo's I was that busy!!!!

Back soon with some little peeks at what I am working on.

I have been stitching!

Okay, so it's been a while, but I have been busy stitching, this is what I have been up to….

Some scrappy blocks (mocha swirl in the book Scrap basket surprises)

and a new design using the gorgeous Sweet broderie fabric by Rosalie

New quilt
I have yet to decide on a name (surprise, surprise!!!) so will spend time thinking about that while I quilt it.

I am off to Warracknabeal on Friday to teach at a workshop with Nat and Melly. Hosted by the wonderful girls at The Quilter's Harvest, it's on Saturday, which will be rather interesting as the Grand Final replay will be on and I am sure there will be a few girls listening in to the radio in the afternoon.

and if you are in need of a mystery project you may like to go over to Sarah's and see what she is up to

back to the machine……

Have a good week and maybe I will see you on Saturday!

a little show and tell

I have been taking photos on my phone whenever I am shown a project from one of my designs. Quite often it is while I am working at Foothills. So I finally got Keegan to get them from my phone to the computer.

Are you ready?

This first one is called "country kitchen" and was made by Willy who replaced some of the stitching with applique (remember they were taken with my phone so they may be a bit blurry)

Willy country kitchen

this one is "provence" made by Marg, who sent it to Canada!! (a bit different to the original!!)

Marg provence

this one is amazing as it is so different to the original(again!!! it is great to see!) made by Helen. it is called "summer's bouquet"

Helen summer1

Helen summer2

Helen summer3
Helen not only changed the stitchery colours but also the "lace" colours around the applique ovals!! What do you think? (the fabric is called Sophia)

And I received these photos by email from Bente in Norway, a beautiful version of "busy little Christmas elves". fabrics by the buggy barn, quilted by Merete, pattern from Siw at Quiltegaarden

Hanne has also made it you can see photos on her blog. (scroll down a little!!!)

Pop over to Terry's blog too to see "A Christmas wish" also

I think that' it for now, I am off to "Immerse" tomorrow and a wedding on Sunday, a busy weekend!!!

Have a good weekend

Gail

here it is “winter blooms”

Here is my new quilt, all quilted, bound and photographed!!! I have nearly finished writing the pattern (I really don't like this bit!) and hopefully it will be in stores at the end of next week.

I absolutely love this quilt, it has to be my new favourite…..I got a lovely parcel in the mail from Siw, and these fabrics were in there!!! Such a gorgeous surprise and I had the perfect project (just needed the time LOL!!) and finally it is done.

A big thanks to Robyn who suggested the name last night after I had changed it about a dozen times!!!

Winter blooms 2
as you can see the wind was having a play and is was so difficult to get it to be still!!! Luckily Liam was home and I roped him in to be quilt holder….

Winter blooms 4
not bad !! Of course the pattern cover will look a little different.

Now to finish the pattern writing!

Have a good weekend

Somerhill House

Hi I'm back with my new quilt "Somerhill House" made with The Brick House fabric.

Somerhill4

I love this range and knew I had to make a quilt with it. I have quilted it with perle 8 ecru thread, you know I just love to hand quilt (nearly wore through the top of my finger as I don't use a thimble!!)

I have a couple of copies of this pattern to give away so leave me a comment and I will send them out next week to the winners (chosen using my random number generator, Liam!!!)

I have a lot of trouble coming up with names for my quilts and other projects so for this one I wanted something a little different. I wanted to use "house" at the end but what to call it!!!

My dad is from England and a long time ago when I visited relatives, I stayed with my Great Aunt in Patcham (near Brighton, Sussex, still trying to work this village name into a quilt!!!!)

I google mapped Brighton and looked at all the street names nearby and there it was……Somerhill Road…..sounded good to me…sounded perfect actually!!!

so there you go…weird hey!!

And one more question…….should I facebook?? I have been thinking about it and not sure if I will have time but then again….it could be fun!

Have a great week everyone and keep warm!!

Cheers

Gail

P.S the quilt is at Foothills now and they stock all the fabric for a kit.

a new design

I have been working very hard this last few weeks and now have a new pattern made out of the Brick House collection from Windham fabrics. I loved it as soon as I saw it at Foothills Fabric and Threads!

I have made this block

Somerhill1

and some of these blocks

Somerhill2

and some of these blocks

Somerhill3

and now need to finish up the pattern writing and take a full shot of the quilt, I will be back later this week with the final photo.

I still need to finish the quilt for Homespun and write that pattern too so I can see some serious computer time coming up this week….

and we are having a Japanese student for the week, and again next week, they are part of a school trip to visit Liam's school and since both my older boys went to Japan last year and stayed with host families we thought it would be nice to have a student stay with us.

and one last mention, Cookies and Cream is a new online shop in Aus, check it out here!!

Have a great week and stay warm (or cool!)

Cheers from freezing Melbourne!!
